DOC CRAWLS BACK INTO THE WORLD
Two days ago it was third anniversary of Bush’s jet landing on the aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln and his speech declaring major fighting in Iraq at an end, all in front of that big fucking "Mission Accomplished" banner. Today Keith Richard fell out of a coconut tree in Fiji. No banner. I knew I had to put the blog back in business. Tell all the people that you see.

Maybe, one day, the distance will be great enough to write about where I’ve been for the last month or more, but not right now. Suffice to say that someone very close to me took her own life, and I’m still attempting to come to grips with that.

I can’t promise daily posts quite yet, but let’s start with all the LA CityBeat columns you all might have missed...
On the Da Vinci code...
http://lacitybeat.com/article.php?id=3479&IssueNum=146
On Bill O’Reilly...
http://lacitybeat.com/article.php?id=3546&IssueNum=148
On Queen Elizabeth I...
http://lacitybeat.com/article.php?id=3618&IssueNum=150
And on the imminent destrucion of the Village Voice...
http://lacitybeat.com/article.php?id=3658&IssueNum=151

Thank you all for your patience and good wishes.

The secret word is Survive

Glad and relieved to have you back. I've been reading your work for 30 years now, and I wish I could take the load off of you. It,s almost 3 years since Angie died and some days it is still very fresh, but I can handle it now, including the guilt that I lay upon myself. Take your time and get better.
