& another thing, you said there would be some details about a collection of sorts with some work regarding the Renquist series... Can we get word on that?

I've always wanted more from the background & history of the plot... Victor of Redlands has so many untold stories that are only just hinted at... Say what was that nearly unfathomable series of events that lead to him ending up in feudal japan & involved with the war between the kenzu & yarabatchi? Let alone what happened while he was there... & how did he meet Lupo & what exactly did he do to earn Lupo's loyally?

Not that there aren't plenty of wonders about where the story will go, like what of Taliesin & even the old master of the colony... Victor's mentor... name starts with a D & I can't remember it at the moment... I have to guess we'll see him or both of them make another appearance sooner or later... I certainly look forward to any new publishing.

Though when you'd mentioned "one last book" for this & another series... I have to think, we've heard so little of Renquist as a human or even a young nosferatu.. Surely there's more than enough room for the series to go back in time & gradually approach the modern settings. Does there have to be just the one? Can five books really do justice to 1000 years of character?

Eh... I mean, sure, the Christians can fit all of creation & the end of times into one book, but, you're better than that, aren't you?

Damn. I'd be delighted to do all the things you suggest, especially if I was to live that long. The problem is that commercial publishing, in the form of Tor books, decided Renquist didn't have enough teen appeal. The impasse has yet to be broken. In the next couple of weeks, however, there will be the final publication details on Zones Of Chaos, a collection of short writing that will include a Victor Renquist story.

Those fucking idiots don't even have any idea of what the fuck they're talking about... not enough teen appeal, my ass. How the fuck can they fail to take note of how absurdly popular emo is & how emo kids (teens) flock to anything vampire related.

I first picked up the time of the feasting when I was either 12 or 13... the so-called "goth" trend was still incredibly popular at the time & I was certainly a part of that trend at that age. Emo is nothing but a second wave of the same trend... throw the word "suicide" in the title & emo kids (teens) will text & twitter about it & change their myspace names to the lead characters of the story. Those fucking morons don't even have a clue...

Renquist has teen appeal because he appears as everything that teens wish they could be... He's got the power to have a level of control & authority while remaining youthfully rebellious & adventurous. He's a character who didn't sell out, rather, blackmailed the man & told society to fuck off in an eternal context. When I was a teenager that was the embodiment (sp?) of everything I aspired to be as I got older...

I'm going to steal my girlfriend's laptop tomorrow & send you an email... That was the stupidest shit I've heard since Bush was still giving speeches... not enough teen appeal, those fucking dumbasses. I can scarcely believe I just read that shit... & don't give me that "if I live that long" shit, radio broadcasts of your art are pulsing through the infinity of the cosmos, so you're already going to live forever
