RADIO FREE HEADPRESS

The excellent folk at Headpress – who will be publishing a book ‘o mine in the not so distant future – have launched a coolly subversive webcast. The insane reactionary rant at the start of this one is not to be missed. Click here.

Great podcast. I wasn't expecting something so R&B-ey, more fool me.

It's kind of a Farren reader, a big collection of my "greatest hits" from 1967 to now. The working title is "Elvis Died For Somebody's Sins But Not Mine." Renquist V is still being mulled. (But seriously mulled.)

is there going to be a follow up to conflagration?

Right now, I'm not even thinking about it. Any focus is on Renquist.

The prospect of new Renquist makes me both very happy & very enthusiastic... I've read those books more than any others. More Than Mortal & Underland were so damned spectacular, there aren't words adequate enough to explain the levels of epic entertainment housed within the text.

I've been re-reading the series & then day dreaming about what might happen next at least once a year every year since the last release. I still can't believe that the series hasn't been made into movies... Why the fuck can't the people who did The Lord of the Rings read the Renquist quartet? Or Quinten Tarentino? Why the fuck can't he? Be like... kill bill plus jackie brown divided by dracula & squared by james bond to the power of clint eastwood, who should totally play role of Herbert Walker Grael.

I do have to say, I speculate, the real reason why Hollywood has been reluctant to adapt a screenplay from the series is because of Marlon Brando's appearance in Darklost. They're just afraid of the trying to approach that legacy & estate... that & they're likely just as worried about you giving a speech somewhere given your political history.

The idea of writing a fifth Victor Renquist novel as been a buzzing irritant in my creative mind for some time now. It could be a great thing, especially if I could take this one further that all others. (Hint: -- Renquist could meet his makers.) The problems are that major publishers would never publish such a thing. They live in Twilight and give theor millions to Sarah Palin. Renquist V will probably need a small press, and if so, what would I survive on while I labored on it, since small presses are not famous for their advances. All in all, I think it is entirely the wrong time to write Renquist V. So I guess I might as well get started.
